My journey towards founding Bold Beginnings was deeply personal and rooted in my own experiences. Mental health was always a prevalent theme in my life, even when I wasn't fully aware of it. As a child, I always felt that my family was different, but it wasn't until I embarked on my graduate program in counseling that I truly understood the extent of mental illness in my life. It was a revelation that was both enlightening and deeply moving.

My family's involvement in the criminal justice system was a significant factor that shaped my perspective. Seeing firsthand the impact of incarceration on individuals and their families was a profound experience. It's not just the person who is incarcerated who suffers; the ripple effects extend to their loved ones and the community at large. This experience was a stark reminder of the long-lasting effects of trauma and the critical role mental health plays in our lives. These experiences inspired me to start Bold Beginnings Center. I see a need for a mental health counseling clinic that could provide support and guidance to those affected by mental illness and the trauma of incarceration. I wanted to create a safe space where individuals could begin their journey towards healing and recovery. I believe that everyone deserves a chance at a fresh start, and that's what Bold Beginnings Center is all about.
